It’s a big week. I’m writing today to introduce our spring Member drive, and to ask you to become a Member.

Since we launched the Membership last year, I’ve tucked a very brief pitch into each free INI newsletter, but going forward, I’m going to straight-up ask folks to subscribe a few times a year.

That’s now, and for our very first week-long spring Member drive, we’re running a special deal!

Our goal: 1000 Members by this Friday the 21st at 11:59 PM.

Why you should subscribe

Let’s start with what you get.

INI Members get:

• Two additional “Top of Mind” emails a week. These are mini-deep dives (these are a thing now, you’re welcome) into a hot topic, including questions and strategies you can use to understand and act on them, now. Recent editions include forever chemicals, immunotherapy, and bird flu.

Here’s what we get.

Some context: INI has no outside investors. Zero.

And we only work with (very) select advertisers. So Members make up most of our revenue (with a bit more coming from sweet merch - more on that soon).

So when you become a Member, you’re saying you find what we do valuable, and want this work to continue.

With your support, we can produce the newsletter, podcast, and YouTube channel.

We can pay for our research and software.

We can even use a little money to buy ad space in other newsletters, which helps us find even more Shit Givers like you.

Being so reliant on you is wildly motivating, because I get to only really give a shit about what you think, not anyone else.

How much does it cost?

Membership comes in two tiers.

• Monthly: $5/month. Half the cost of a Netflix subscription, or the cost of one double IPA, and the quality’s better than either of those. #loveisblind

• Annual: Usually $50/year (a 17% discount). This is the best deal for you and me. This comes out to about $4.16/month. I win because you’re a guaranteed Member for a year, and I only have to pay Stripe one transaction fee, instead of twelve.

BUT WAIT — HERE’S THIS WEEK’S SPECIAL DEAL:

For our spring Member drive (from right now until Friday midnight ET), the annual option is 10% off for the first year, or just $45.

That comes out to just $3.75/a month for the next twelve months. You can’t buy three eggs for that.

What if I can’t afford it?

When I started the Member program last year, I said I’d gift a Membership to anyone who wrote me and said they wanted to join but couldn’t afford it. That’s still a thing.

We’re big on trust here, and supporting one another is the entire point, so whoever can become a Member helps cover the gift Memberships for those who can’t.

There’s a lot of folks asking for your money every day, which is why we try to keep things subtle and let the work stand for itself. But we’re also going to try to become more diligent and focused a couple times a year and ask you directly to become a Member and support our work. Otherwise we simply can’t keep doing it.
